Playful Ecology
This project combines poetry, traditional ecological knowledge with illustration and material practice. The overall idea started with a poem of the Hani Peoples of China.
The poem describes the flora and fauna in a terrace paddy field ecosystem. The traditional wisdom reflected through the poem is a decent example of harmonious man - nature relationship.
This project is an attempt to combine reading activity with playful interactions. The laser - cut pieces of animal and plant species fit into the three major locations of the ecosystem - paddy field, forest and the village. People read lines of the poem and find the corresponding species to fill in the holes on the board.
This is part of my studio project.
